Lopez Food Center

Architect: ETS Architecture

This multi-purpose, community-driven facility on Lopez Island, WA will accomodate the local Food Share program, along with the San Juan Food Hub (an inter-island food distributor), and includes community event spaces and a commercial kitchen to host food events and pop-ups.

The design seeks to establish a communal gathering space that is flexible, resilient, and efficient. With a nod to its agrarian setting, the structure will take advantage of repetitive form to efficiently employ conventional pre-fabricated wood trusses and a structural insulated panel (SIP) roof diaphragm. The open-grated terrace gathering space is framed with steel to minimize ground disturbance and reduce impervious surfaces and impacts to the adjacent wetland.

Currently in design for construction in 2025
